Massage Treatments

  • Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a combination of deep tissue strokes with coordinated breath-work and assisted body stretches. The entire treatment takes place upon a mattress on the floor, which allows the practitioner to use both their hands and feet for a highly effective technique to perform the oil massage and yoga-based stretches. A small amount of oil is mixed with a scrubbing powder called Calamus, an Ayurvedic herbal remedy that stimulates the skin and pulls out the toxins from the body to improve circulation.

The unique, comprehensive approach to the body dissolves physical and emotional blockages, helps eliminate toxins, promotes correct posture, improves respiratory patterns, and enhances energy levels.

  • Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses a combination of massage techniques, nut oils, and sometimes elements of prayer, breathing, and dance to restore energy and soothe the body. It is also known as the 'loving hands' massage. This name helps to explain its principles - the massage works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, allowing the recipient to relax and give in to the nurturing touch. It is a ceremony with an intention.

Lomi Lomi works from the belief that memories are not just stored in the brain and mind, but also in every cell of the human body. The long, continuous strokes of the massage are designed to help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviours, which can cause as many stresses and strains as muscle tension.

Your ears and hair may then be tousled, pressed and tugged. The benefits of Indian head massage include that it helps release of toxins from tense and knotted muscles, and improves oxygen flow to the brain. It also reduces jaw ache, stimulates lymphatic drainage and aids sleep. It stimulates the release of endorphins.

The majority of the working public spend most of their day at a desk working at a P.C. only using their upper bodies and head. The head, neck and shoulders are important energy centres within the body. If you are stressed tension tends to accumulate here which can result in a stiff neck or shoulders, eyestrain or headaches. Physical or emotional stress tends to result in tightening of the muscles in the back, shoulders, neck, face and scalp. Indian Head Massage focuses on these areas bringing about a release of tension and promoting relaxation. Clients tend to notice immediate improvements in physical and mental functioning.
